Cameras

The Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max and 13 Pro have the same cameras. They’ve both seen an upgrade over last year. The 12-megapixel main camera features a new sensor with larger pixels, as well as sensor-shift stabilization. Then the 12-megapixel telephoto camera has a higher 3x zoom. And the 12 megapixel ultra-wide now has autofocus. The camera quality is the same as the iPhone 13 Pro Max. During the day photos are very good with plenty of detail and natural-looking colors. 3x zoom photos from the telephoto maintain the overall colors of the main camera. The ultra-wide camera also maintains similar colors and dynamic range to the other two cameras and it has autofocus for close-ups. The default setting for the main camera is auto night mode. These images are great with nice detail and highlights.

The Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max can shoot video up to 4K@24/30/60fps with all of its cameras. Footage from the main cam is great with very good detail and lively colors. The same can be said of the footage from the telephoto camera and the ultrawide camera which puts up a strong performance. All of the cameras also feature always-on electronic stabilization which does a great job of smoothing things out. And finally, with cinematic mode on iPhone 13 Pro, you can blur the background behind your subjects dynamically and even switch the focus.

Display and audio

The display of the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max is a 6.1-inch super retina XDR OLED. It is quite sharp at 460 PPI and features a fast 120 Hertz refresh rate Apple calls ProMotion. Yes! This feature has made its way to high-end iPhones. Here it is adaptive based on how you’re using the screen to save energy all the way down to 10 Hertz. The content on this display is vibrant and crisp and contrasty all thanks to the OLED technology. There’s HDR 10 and Dolby Vision support too. All of the iPhones come with stereo speakers and the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max scores excellent on loudness charts in line with the other models. This is one other feature we noticed a slight difference in is the speaker quality.

Apple A15 Bionic

The two iPhone 13 Pro models have more in common than they differ. All of the new iPhones run on Apple’s newest Silicon the Apple A15 Bionic (5 nm) chipset. But the Pro models get an extra performance boost when it comes to graphics since they have a 5-Core core GPU, rather 4-Core. Performance is considerably better than last year with the iPhone 13 pro and Promax topping the charts with both CPU and GPU. For peak performance, the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max set a bar that probably won’t be surpassed until next year’s iPhones come out. Another thing that’s shared across the new iPhones is the user interface. It’s Apple’s iOS 15, upgradable to iOS 15.4.1 which is quite similar to the previous version but with a few tweaks.

Battery

The Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max’s battery is a lot bigger than the 13 Pro with a difference is over 1200 mAh. All praise to the iPhone Pro max for having the best battery life ever for an iPhone. But the regular Pro is more middle of the row. It still is still an improvement over last year. New iPhones don’t come with a charger. But if you use Apple’s 20W adapter, the iPhone 13 Pro Max supports fast charging (27W, unofficial rating), 50% in 30 min (advertised).
